Default Another deadly street race

As if you really need another reason not to participate or spectate at a street race comes this:
"...on Sunday, a man and a woman were hit and killed around 3 a.m. at the Woodlawn Park and Ride ramp onto I-70 west.

Witnesses at the scene told investigators that the crash occured after a crowd of people watching a drag race dispersed upon seeing a police vehicle patroling."

We need a closer track.

As a family guy, I can't imagine the family's losses suffered.

I work with the father of the deceased girl. Obviously, he and his family are devastated. No one should have to bury their child.

Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

There are far more drag race facilities than road race facilities. There's Capitol Raceway in Crofton, only 30 min from where the accident happened.

But even if there was one closer than that, the crash happened at 3am, long after a track would be closed anyway. So "having one closer" wouldn't have helped in that case or most of the others.

the 2 killed were my girlfriend's friends...well...the girl was my girlfriend's friend and the guy was her new boyfriend.

i was talking to my girlfriend before it (she lives in ellicott city) and told her not to go so she took my advice (cause the guy - her friend's new boyfriend - told her to come out with them as well)...after i talked with her on the phone, she called her friend and tried to convince her not to do it...

now my girl's feeling like shit, can't sleep at night and thinks its her fault for not trying hard enough to convince her friend...i think she's feeling better now and slowly realizing that she couldn't have done anything more...

moral is, streetracing is for fags. but unfortunately sometimes the innocent have to pay...

Senseless loss of life indeed. As a father of teenager, I can only imagine how hard this must be on the parents .
