w1ingman and I are at a red light and both of us take off (I think I actually pulled him on the launch but, you're missing the point of the story) I revved it up it up probably to 4-5K and let out the clutch pretty quick - I didn't ride it or slip the clutch - and layed on the gas.

DaveZ,

Do you think your clutch has been compromised or weakened by "neglecting" it? To clear things up, I let the clutch out quickly, I didn't pop it out or sidestep the pedal. I guess I expect more out of a sports car and it's clutch - especially as new as mine is. I'm a bit concerned that once the clutch slips like it did, that it is permanent damage and will be easier to cause a massive slip like last night. Incidentally, it seemed to grab second and third gear without apparent slip.

Thanks.

1MoreToy, Check out this thread in S2000 Talk regarding your clutch slip:

New Bulletin 00-054 (Clutch)

Cyber Logic posts:

In there, today Woohoo...I tried to get my clutch replaced a few weeks ago at a dealership because it was slipping and they stated that it was normal for it to slip a little... Yeah right...anyway I really wanted a new clutch and mine makes this decelerating noise all the time and it bugs the hell out of me so I took it to a new dealer I hadn't tried yet in town this afternoon and they said no problem...the new clutch is in and we will replace it. I should have my car back by tomorrow night and I will let you all know if I notice a difference at all. In any effect I'm really excited because for about 3k miles now my clutch slips a lot on the 1-2 shift and it's annoying the hell out of me. Get back to you tomorrow!
