Default Anyone know of a good place to powdercoat wheels.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a shop in the MD area that does good work when it comes to powdercoating wheels. If so list them and how much.

I stumbled on this thread by clicking mid-atlantic instead of music city on accident, so i decided to post some advice.

I've had to sets of wheels powdercoated, one set i paid $140 for and the other set $300. The $140 set had chips within 2 weeks, and i was always touching them up with black touchup paint. The $300 set, i had done at a reputable shop here in nashville and i've had them for almost a year and i've only found one small chip.

So my advice is....if your gonna pay to have them powdercoated, go ahead and pay a little extra and go to someone that has a good reputation. If you want to get them done cheap, then i say spray paint them. sorry i don't know of any shops up there in the mid-a region, but i thought i'd give you my $.02

$110 a wheel is really steep, i agree somewhere around $60 wheel is good

I'll add my $.02. $75/wheel is dirt cheap. Labor costs in this part of the country are a little different than anywhere I've lived.

That said, I have access to a bead blasting machine on the base. They charge me $15 per half-hour. That's with me doing the labor. A "real" shop that uses an industrial sized oven versus small ones or lamps costs money to heat up. I ended up blasting/primering/painting my four wheels for a total cost of just under $100.

If I were to have wheels 'coated, I'd easily pay $400/set. You get what you pay for, and the prep is the biggest key.

Btw, one of the shops in the VA Beach area powdercoated over the wheel weights of an S owner's wheels. Great prep work.

There is a shop down my way that quoted me $100/wheel but that included stripping the wheels and everything, but this was a year ago so his prices most likely went up since then.
