Default Argh...Cracked rear window

I put the top down this past weekend and I head a snap, upon putting the top back up.... I saw the crack. It looks like I'll have to get the top replaced. Any ideas on cost?

Ahhhh yes....the noobee putting the AP1 Plastic top down in cold weather crack syndrome

I was a victim of this myself when I was just a noobee, so you're not alone.

You should DEFINITELY do the glass top conversion. I did it. I got the top on ebay for $700 brand new (hardtopguy.com is $925 before shipping) and did the install myself. It is by FAR one of the best mods on the car.

You can also put the top down in cold weather and ride topless in the snow

How long would you say the install took you to complete?

Any tips or things to avoid?

With 2 of us it took about 5 hours. The install isnt too hard, but it's def time consuming. The install instructions say it takes 10 hours. I don't recommend doing this by yourself.

Here are the instructions:

Where are you located? Tony (moparacker) is located in Richmond and has done plenty of these. If you're up around this area (MD/DC) we could possibly work something out.

In the meantime you might want to get some static tint and put it on to cover the crack so that it doesnt leak. Either that or clear packaging tape. Instructions for the static tint install are here:

Actually, he's in Virginia Beach area. I drove down there for him to do my install.

I've read in several posts on various forums here that the vinyl material of the top itself can be brittle below 45 degrees or so. Is this not true? I would love nothing more than hospitalization this winter due to hypothermia from driving a convertible in January.

Whoops....that's what I said.....right???

So yeah, he's in Va Beach.

As for the vinyl getting brittle, either keep it in the garage or let the car run with the heat on for a couple min if you're worried about it. Be prepared to get a couple of from other drivers. It's hilarious
