Thumbs down ATTN: NOVA MEMBERS

So I was offered a job in Prince William County in the Manassas area. Havent decided if I am taking it or not yet. Can anyone help me out or point me in the right direction for a decent but cheap area to live where I dont have to worry about my s2k getting jacked? And some suggestions for whats fun to do around the area. Thanks.

Good Luck. Living in Nova is expensive just about anywhere you go. It's just the cost of living. CONGRATS ON THE JOB THOUGH.

atleast its not fairfax county!! lol but yea, i would say there are good areas in about every city, but if your in the wrong neighborhood, especially with a honda, i would think about vehicle security. it really depends on your income and if or not you will be living alone. i cant really help ya decide on what area would be ideal without knowing your situation (living alone/renting/buyin a house with the family/ect..) either way, most of manassas isnt isnt the best place to live with a honda... especially an s2000.

you will need at least $1200 for a decent 1 bedroom in the area(depending on your idea of decent). Personally I would live a city nearby but not in manassas, like centreville for example. Every city has its bad areas, but it seems manassas has more than others. A good amount people believe that alot of the thefts that happen from people who live in massasas.

C-Ville to manassas is about 10-15 minutes. However, there are some bad spots in c-ville also. Just about every city in NOVA has a "bad" area. It just really depends.

If you can afford it, definitely try and get a garage. Having your car unseen is a big help in not getting it jacked. Some apartment buildings have garages, but I don't know how that fits in your budget.

Manassas was largely affected by the housing crunch and also Prince William's mission on illegal immigrants. As a result, housing is pretty cheap there now, but yes there are still pockets of high crime. For rental property, you might be better off looking in Woodbridge. You can find nice apartments near the highway in your budget.
