Aurora!
Dude...that doesn't just happen around here! 
Were we made aware that this was expected (ie like meteorologists do with eclipses, comets, etc.)???
Will it likely happen again tomorrow night??? (Damn...

The third largest coronal eruption on record happened late Tuesday/early Wednesday. Another one happened late yesterday, both of which were pointed right at the earth.
There's no predicting what will happen with these things, so the alert went out that there MIGHT be auroras seen at latitudes further south than normal.
I was too exhausted last night to step out and see if anything was happening, but after seeing images of aurora that were captured in Arizona, I figured I'd take a look tonight. Glad I did!
It seems to be pretty much over by now (10:30), but if another eruption happens tonight or early tomorrow, we could be in for some more tomorrow night!
