Default AVID Rear Differential Mounts

There are already a couple threads that have been posted regarding upgrading the rear diff mounts, but I just installed a set from AVID and thought I would share my impression.

Simply put, I am REALLY happy with the mounts. My S2 has 42k miles and had a bit of drivetrain “slack” I could feel when going on/off with the throttle. The new mounts significantly reduced the amount of movement I felt in the car. I expect upgrading the engine and trans mounts will remove what movement is left. AVID should be coming out with engine and trans mounts for our car pretty soon and I’ll be installing those as soon as I can get my hands on them. The mounts come in a couple different hardness ratings and I bought the ‘62a street’ set. The additional stiffness over the OEM mounts added practically no vibration into the car.

Below are a couple pictures of the install and side-by-side comparisons.

I want to thank Rob at JDMCars.com for getting me the mounts quickly at a great price. I’ll be contacting them again when the engine mounts are ready.

Very interesting. Good to see that there's a medium in between the fully rigid collars and OEM. Keep us posted on how they hold up over time.

OEM mounts are $225 from Majestic. I suppose it's a lot of money in the realm of, "if it ain't broke..." category. But, for a high mileage AP1 with tired mounts it seems good to me.
