Do you ever have one of those days you wish you never got out of bed? Well I'm having one of those weeks right now. It actually started yesterday with my apartment fiasco. I had a move in date of January 14th, I found out yesterday that it won't be ready till March; I have been waiting for a month to move into this place. To top off this wonderful news they are refusing to refund my deposit if I cancel. Maybe I can hire Hiro to draft me up a mean letter .

Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse... it did!! Driving into work this morning listening to my new Garth Brooks CD and following the flow of traffic I noticed the SUV in front of me braking very hard. The next thing I see is a big ole truck tire being flung up in the air and coming directly for my hood/front windshield. Well it didn't make it to the windshield but it did some damage to my hood and front bumper (driver side). Prolly need to take it into a body shop to assess the total cost in damage.

If anyone can recommend a good body shop and also a good apartment I would appreciate it. I kinda got a good chuckle writing that last sentence

-John

Man, sucks to be you!

I'm sure you'll get a good body shop recommendation from our forum. I don't see any way they could refuse to refund your deposit. I think they are just trying you out. Who is it? Look for the landlord-tenant commission and office of consumer affairs in that county. Let me know if you want some research help.

I agree with Jim. Try to push them a little harder on the deposit refund. Seems pretty clear to me - they are going to be over a month and a half late with the apartment they promised you - you paid the deposit for the apartment which is consideration as part of a contract. Contracts go both ways - either they cough up the apartment or the money.

However, I'm guessing that they'll point out some shady language in the contract which probably doesn't work in your favor.

Thanks for the kind words and advice guys.

Jim and Dave- I am hoping that they are trying me out. The fact that I haven't signed the lease yet and that they have not met their end of the agreement should hopefully be to my advantage.

Sorry to hear about the bad week!

If you ever move into Virginia (and the chances become more murky by the day) then you should try my friend Mark Boudreau's shop in Shirlington.

Spectrum Painting & Collision Center
4068 S. Four Mile Run Drive
Arlington, VA 22206

Phone: 703-671-2402

They're a half block off of Walter Reed. Although Mark is down in Costa Rica for the holidays his asst. Rita should be able to help. At this point they've done work on a number of S2000's (and mine multiple times).

If you call, tell 'em I referred you. It means free beer!

Holy S*$t,

John, I sympathize with you on the apartment situation and I am just so devastated to hear that your car is harmed.
This really sucks!

Please don't hesitate to call me or e-mail me if you need my support.
I will do whatever I can to help you in anyway possible.

Gregg's friend's bodyshop will be your choice since they already worked on the Silver one before and the job was flawless.

I am not having such a good day myself(acutally the whole month) but compare to you it is peanut.

I will pray that your days will get better soon.
Take care please.

Yikes..........Sounds like my luck sometimes!

I had an apartment deposit issue once........got a lawyer and we told Toll Brothers to go "F" themselves. Long story, but we got the deposit back and the lawyer was free through my friends work....CACI.

He paid 5 bucks a paycheck for prepaid legal svc.....and it came in handy!

Gregg- As soon as I find residence in the VA area (It will be soon!!) I'll make sure to take my car into your friends shop. Upon further inspection of my car (didn't really want to look at it the first time) the damage seems minor. Lots of scratches and scuffmarks but no dents. So the worst-case scenario is a respray of the hood and bumper or (crossing my fingers) I can even buff it out.

Randy- I'm sure I speak for both of us when I say; I am looking forward to year 2002. It seems like everyone has had a little bit of misfortune this year . Also compared to some of the things (9/11) that has happened my problems seem very minor as well.

I wish my company offered this service. Fortunately I have a friend that works at Shaw Pittman who can help me out.
