Op The Chart House is a place I would take a date. If it was just me and another male friend hell no I would go somewhere else. But the food is second to none.

It's a great chain restaurant. But the OP specifically asked for a crab place, and (I've been to both) Buddy's is the best for crabs, IMHO.

as a local I would say Cantler's or Mike's Crab House for crabs...Buddy's is ok, they just have a prime location on Main St. downtown
Cantler's is in a location next to the water as is Mike's both are great atmosphere for crabs on a nice day

Some old favorites are Middleton Tavern and McGarvey's, right next to each other at the City Dock. Chart House *is* great, but *is* a chain, as others have pointed out. The Treaty of Paris at The Maryland Inn is also very nice.
