Body on Beltway?
Okay, I was out for a cruise with my buddy Joseph on Friday night.... nice weather and we were bored, so we took the top down and decided to cruise through the city. We take 66 to 495 North headed around towards Tysons Corner.
As we approach the Rte. 7 overpass we see a trooper on the left with lights blazing and his back end sorta out in the road. We make a comment that he was awfully far out in the road and realize, as we pass him, that he doesn't have anyone pulled over. We laugh it off and accuse him of trying that old cop trick of fooling people into speeding past him thinking he has someone else pulled over and is too busy to give chase. As we direct our attention back to the road, my lights catch a big mass of *something rather mangled* (please excuse any insensitivity) directly in front of my car and I had to swerve around it. The following conversation ensued:
ME: Dude, that was nuts! What was that?
Buddy: I dont' know, must have been an animal.
ME: Come to think of it, it had no fur and I thought I saw blue fabric. I think that was a human body.
Buddy: No way, they would have blocked off the beltway.
So we think nothing more of it and proceed downtown for a smooth (okay, not so smooth... city roads suck) ride. About half an hour later, my friend tells me to turn up the radio. We then hear that a pedestrian was struck on the Beltway and they closed all lanes but one. So I guess we were right when we discussed the nature of the object. The trooper we saw must have been first on the scene.
I heard the traffic report on Friday night, but have not heard or seen any information regarding the incident since. Has anybody heard any information about this? I feel really bad for the person/family/and anyone else involved, so I'm not trying to make this a joke of a post, just really curious about what happened as it was pretty shocking on our end.

My friend was stuck in the backup caused by that. All I know is what I heard on the news Fri night when they reported on the problem. That someone had been struck several times on the Beltway. I believe it was a woman. No more details since.
I was there when it just happened which only one ambulance and one cop car was at the scene. I rolled on the lane right next to the body and it was grusome. No head, no arms, and missing one leg. Looks like ground beef from supermarket.
Last week when that Van jump across the northbound lane and into the southbound lane near 236. I arrived on the scene about 1 minute after it happened. There were people running from their cars to try and pull open the door on the Van and there was some guy screaming " he's Dead he's dead ". I'm still kicking myself over not stopping and helping, there were about 20 people out there trying to help. I feel like such an ass still, just because I was trying to get to class. It seems like there are many gruesome accidents occurring around here as of late.

Some updates on the hit and run on 495:
Apparently the body belongs to a state trooper giving a ticket to a motorist. A truck flew out of nowhere and run him over and left the scene. I believe there might be several cars ran him over again and again.
That is why his torned up pants are deep blueish black.....
