Default CAI help

are there really any differences in performance or is it just brand preference? i could be wrong, but judging from the pics, the fujita one looks bigger than the aem...is that right?

also, since i have an 07 model, can i use any intake models for the 2.2L or does it have to be for my year? i've seen it listed as 2000-2005 and 2006-2007 which doesn't really make sense to me.

any input would be appreciated.

thanks,

joe

2006+ has different connections on the intake because it has a different throttle body (due to the drive by wire). So you need an intake made for your year -- or you have to do some modifications to use intakes made for the older years (2000-2005 should be the same unless they specifically tuned the intake for the 2.2L).

Only tube CAI style I know of thats really any different is the AEMv2, which sounds a little bit different but it has problems with hydrolock so you need to take precautions against it (like buying a heatshield to protect the filter, and covering the drain holes).

There's other intakes of course that are a lot different like Comptech's, K&N, J's, etc...

this kinda brings up another question.
I have AEM CAI and I kinda wanted to switch back to stock air box and maybe drop in a mugen filter or spoon filter.

would they make difference significantly?

like this one from spoon

and how does this mugen filter work?

thanks in advance!!

that's a little more broader but basically, yes. There is no difference between an AEM V1, Fujita, 4-IG, or Injen (do they even have a CAI for the S?) and since they are all the same, you won't notice any differences.
