Yes. Very informative. I have been sharing your findings with some of my friends who Vintage race at Summit. If any new ideas come from sharing this, I will post them.

did any of the tires have any sort of flat spots?
The car was sitting on the ground in the garage so we couldn't spin the wheels but from what we could see of the tires there were no flat spots. The skid marks and lack of deceleration pretty much rule out a locked up wheel (skidding) because the uniformity of the skid marks. If one or all of the wheels locked up the car would have decelerated much more than it did.

Wow ... that's all I can say. I am not on s2ki very often anymore (maybe once a month) and am just now hearing about this tragedy. I have spent the past two hours reading this thread. What can be said that hasn't already been said? Cale was a great person and will be missed by many.

Ironically, my last post on this forum involved trying to get a Mid-A badge so I could list something for sale. In his typical happy-go-lucky personable way, Cale responded. https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...c=578275&st=50

To Cale's family and friends: My sincerest condolances go out to you. I am sorry for your loss.

Godspeed Cale.

Kevin

George, the brake pad material looked good all around. It was thin in the front but as long as you're not metal to metal you're going to get pretty good stopping power. Even with backing plate to rotor you still get more stopping power than Cale had. Cale was in a slide from the pavement all the way to the wall and he just didn't lose much speed. He couldn't have had much braking authority at all.

Having heard the news just today, since a few of us from Mid-A's HAW were away, I was unable to attend Cale's service. This was devastating news to hear about my fellow S2KI'er and more importantly, my friend.

Cale was everything that was said here already, but also a good sport. Too many a time we joked about ...er... our female exploits (pre-girlfriends).

Jamie insisted we looked alike, in which I would respond that I was the better looking one. He was such a good sport and was able to take a joke and dish them out too. I once said that I was going to make fun of him to one of his friends on myspace... his response was "go ahead", so I did and we both had a good laugh about it even though it was at his expense.

The last time we were supposed to hang out was at the Lake house (MILF Lake/Lake Anna), with Steve and I, but weather and work interfered.

From his random Blackberry Messenger messages to me, to his great "flying" stories, I had always wished our busy jobs/schedules would let us "hang out" more, but I am glad for the time I got to spend with him.

Here's a video he shared with me a while ago... Hang Loose, Captain Cale

Much love for you, bro R.I.P.
