I think about what happened to Cale every time I'm at Summit or on track. My priorities used to be get fast lap time first and safety second. But now, I have invested a lot in safety equipment this year. Too bad I never got a chance to be on the track with Cale.

The oak tree at VIR is of fame- it marks T12. Cale liked VIR and won his first TT there. Perhaps you might consider the oak.
Good call.

Mr. Kastanek, there's lot's of photos of that turn at VIR, too. You can see what Skip is referring to here:

From VIR's website:

[QUOTE]None of the men who first brought VIR to life, nor the racers and fans who frequented it in the early days, could have imagined the kind of showplace that exists on the site today. In the words of actor Paul Newman, who has raced in both amateur and professional competition since the 1970s,

I immediately thought about Cale when I saw Skip's "Comraderie at the Track" thread. We miss him every time we pull into the gates of Summit Point or VIR.

I've been upset with myself for months that I had dozens of pictures of his car but none of him. This is pretty much true for most of you here... at all the meets, the lens is always pointed at the cars. Don't forget about the people!

Well, I was digging around my photo library tonight and stumbled on this. It's not great, a little soft. I shot it early on while still learning. I think the B&W treatment hides that though, and I'm still very happy to have found it. I just can't help but be a little frustrated that it's not perfect.
