Default Car Broken Into

One of my biggest fears living in the city was having my top knifed and the car broken into.I just bought my house and am a bit short on funds to buy a HT. Although, I live in one of the "nicer" parts of the city, im still on the short end of the stick here. I had a charity football game in fed hill friday night and got home around 11pm. I live just outside the Hopkins Bayview area and its a considerably nice part of the city. My alarm, not sure if anyone has this problem, seemingly goes off at random when the weather tends to get colder. Maybe it makes it a little more sensitive, Im not sure.

Saturday, around 5am, the gf woke me up bitching that my alarm was going off and to turn it off. So i ran out and was spamming the big button on the keys to shut off the alarm and continuously bitch about it being cold and windy. I parked under a street light and while i was coming closer to the car, I could see light shining through my roof . Long story short, they sliced a V shape in the roof and ransacked the car. I lost a fair bit of personal items, which sucks but I just wanted to gather some opinions here.

I need to replace the roof obviously, but are there any recommended shops in the Baltimore Metro area. Harford County would work as well, due to the parentals living up north. I just wanted to make sure it was done right to prevent leaking etc. Also if anyone in the area in selling a black softie, let me know. Maybe we could work out a deal/price.

Also are there any meets / dates coming up where I could provide some beer / loose women to help me with the roof swap. I ve never done it before, so I would need some instruction if this were the case. Ill try to get some pics up of the top.

Thanks in advance all.

Sorry to hear.
I got my soft top that I'm selling. I can also help you install it in my garage if you'll be interested in buying it.

wouldn't it be cheaper to file an insurance claim and have them replace it w/ OEM?

Assuming you're deductible is under $1000, and your rates won't climb as a result of it . . .

If you've got full coverage and only a $250 or $500 deductible, seems like that would be cheaper

My roof's in good shape, but I`m looking for a set of the latches. The plastic in mine have snapped a couple times and they rattle.
If you end up tossing your old roof, drop me a line about the latches.

Sorry to hear about your ordeal. I don't know much about top install's, but if there is a meet that involves beer and loose women, I'm there.

Sorry man. I think I have seen your car. I live not too far away (probably near the crackhead that did it).

I can't f'in stand Baltimore City... or Maryland. My friends and girlfriend love the city but I am from a spot much farther south and can't believe the rudeness and apathy of 99.99999999% of people.

I figured my luck would eventually run out, so I ended up buying a really nice $1200 beater truck before anything happened. I park my S in a locked secret lair in the city.
