Caravan To Dragonball Run
In the Mid-Atlantic Dragonball Run Thread we have pretty much determined who all will be attending the event. As times are getting closer, it is time for us to arrange the caravan to the Dragon itself.
Pretty much right off the bat we know that we will have a crowd from SoVa leaving, as well as a crowd from NoVa. Time are still to be determined, along with a meeting place. However let's try to organize this as best as we can!

[QUOTE=Poindexter,Sep 8 2006, 01:01 PM] I'd like to hit the road between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM.
Here are some possible meeting spots - figure we can meet at any of them around lunch time.

Um...there is no space between Capt and Kirk in my SN... and there is no space between NO and S8NT in Kevin's SN
- someone is anal today

I posted this in the other thread:
If we want to hit our meeting spot on 81 around lunch time we'll have to consider how much drive time is left before making it to Fontana. If we pick Staunton, we're looking at another 5-6 hours (driving the speed limit*) setting us for arrival around 7:00 - 8:00 PM after spending an hour or two in Staunton waiting for people to show up, eating lunch, fueling up, fixing FI'd cars
, etc....Roanoke gets us another hour closer, but Bristol might be pushing my hunger pangs

There's also the Thursday night Hooters dinner to consider attending?
*I will not be doing the speed limit unless Mr. V1 says different. ACLR8 and I made the entire trek to Knoxville at WTD '04 in 6.5 hours from Newport News. We were probably averaging around 100 MPH, but I'm not sure I want to push my luck this time around.
Alex, the Thursday Night Hooters Dinner is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
The way I am thinking... if you could leave Virginia Beach around 7-7:30 AM and arrive in Staunton around 11:00 AM, hopefully have everyone together to leave there by 11:30. If that works as planned, I suggest we just hit the road and make a random stop around 12:30 - 1:00 PM for a quick lunch, perhaps in Bristol.
If that works out, then hopefully we can make up some time after lunch and make it to Alcoa by 7:00 PM for the Hooters Dinner.

If we can make it from Staunton to Bristol in an hour that'd be awesome - someone call off the cops during that time, we're going for new land speed records!!!
And don't forget the FI-breakdown-need-to-be-fixed factor.

- Sorry, when I said Bristol I meant Roanoke... the location you stated was another hour away.I figure we'll just bring my motor with us in the back of the Evo... that way when Naveed's breaks, we can just swap mine right in! It'll be a lot easier than trying to fix his!

Plus I'll have my Inline Pro Differential Conversion kit in the trunk, so if anyone has driveline issues - that'll fix that too!
Ummm we're gonna have to stop a bit more often to get gas... by we I mean Kevin and myself, lol. I don't know how often we'll have to stop, but I know just 2 tiems isn't going to cut it lol

That is why we'll be carrying FRS Radio's during this trip. Whenever anyone gets rather low on gas we can plan to pull off the interstate to get gas.
What kind of gas mileage are you getting in your S2 now Naveed? In the Evo I'm averaging around 250 miles (mixed city/highway) before the gas light comes on.
