Default Caravan to Hagerstown

Those of us that are attending the Friday afternoon memorial service for Cale are planning a caravan for the ride out there. The goal is to roll in as a group and show a little S2000 pride for our friend.

The plan isn't set in stone yet so any suggestions are welcome. Here is what I have cooked up this far:

CLICK HERE FOR A TENTATIVE ROUTE MAP

Start

Where: Macy's parking garage, top floor, Tysons Galleria Mall (this is the fancy mall north of 123)

Time: Meet 10 am leave ABSOLUTELY NO LATER THAN 10:30.

Stop #1

Where: Gaithersburg park and ride lot: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geoc...004157&t=h&z=18

Time: Arrive approximately 11 from Tysons. Leave ABSOLUTELY NO LATER THAN 11:30.

Stop #2

Where: Scenic Overlook on 270 just southeast of Frederick, MD. This will be a short 15 minute stop.

Time: Arrive approximately noon. Leave ABSOLUTELY NO LATER THAN 12:15 P.M.

Scheduled to arrive at the funeral home no later than 12:45 pm for the 1:30 service.

I know this is a little early but I want time to drag our heels a little bit and obey all of the funny looking white and black signs along the way. I also want time to park appropriately at the funeral home.

I will be very strictly adhering to the departure times. I hate to be this way but I will leave on time and without anyone who is not there.

The caravan will obey all traffic signals and posted speed limits.

The caravan is open to everyone BUT we are going to put all of the S2000's first. Any other marques can bring up the rear.

The goal here is to show community support so leave the daily driver at home and put on your best.

I'm going to try to take off for this. Would meet up at the Tyson's Corner spot.

If I come up 340 and take 270 South, what exit can I get off on to get on 270 N and get to this scenic overlook? I don't see it on my map.

It is a PITA to get to that overlook from the north. You are better off going down to the Urbana exit (26) and doing a U-Turn.

Mark (speed_bump) is working on a mini-caravan for folks coming from your direction, Lou. He'll have a good meet-up for a mini-caravan to the overlook. Check back soon.

In for stop #1. If not many people sign up, we'll plan on stop #2.

And thanks for leading this, Jeff.

Sorry, but I don't have an S2000 anymore
