Meeting spot in Fredericksburg

Travel approx 2 miles and it's on the right. It is not the one in Central Park.


LEAVING at 0700. This station has some of the cheapest gas and has 93 octane. Free air for tires and decent chow.









No doubt that those of us making plans to attend Wake the Dragon are getting "geeked" up for the event. With lodging so close to the famed road, more time can be spent driving the destination versus getting to it.

This thread's purpose is to track Thursday departures. Currently, the plan is to be on the road at 0700 from Fredericksburg. This gives us time to take a relaxing lunch(not a 10 minute drive-thru type) and still be able to beat Knoxville's afternoon traffic. This year's journey is longer than in the past as the lodging site is on the other side of the Dragon.

Also, I would not recommend topping off your tank until you get to the Fredericksburg area. Gas is definitely less expensive down here. If you have a specific gas you prefer, let me know. Not all companies are immediately available right off the freeway.

The route from Fred'bg will be Rt 3 to Rt 20. That'll dump us into Charlottesville and onto I-64. Richmonders or beach area folks might want to meet us at the I-64/I-81 interchange. This probably would be best for those close to the I-81 up north.

 

Im down for an early thursday departure, although were do you join up on 81? Ill meet you there.

I am leaving Thursday AM also, I will probably have to meet everyone either in Frednecksburg or the 81/64 exit.

Early on Thursday is fine for me. Skip, I'll just sleep in your flower bed out front of your house 'cause my alarm doesn't know anything earlier than 6:45ish...
