CEL
My CEL came on this morning, but the car is running fine. I just went to Autozone to get the code read and they told me that until it's been on for 24 hours, they can't read it. Is that true?

I too went through the trouble of finding a place that would pull a code for free. Every place I went to told me their scanner was broken or missing the correct adapter for my car. Very convenient if you ask me
I tried Advance Autoparts (visited two, called one), Autozone, Cottmans Transmission, and some other garage that the guy at Advance Auto recommended. I finally came to the conclusion that no one wants to help another person out for free... even if it only takes five minutes. Finally, I just broke down and bought a cheap $30 OBD2 scanner off ebay instead of wasting anymore time or gas. I've successfully used it twice since

You can read a code as soon as it's triggered.
