Default Clutch Softness

Hey,

My '01 w/58k has a weird issue. Intermittently (in no regular interval) my clutch all the sudden goes soft. For 90% of the time the clutch has normal resistance, but every so often the clutch feels like stepping on a marshmallow. Sometimes it stays soft (like stepping on air) for a few hours, then gets back to normal resistance. The problem never lasts more than a day, but happens at random times. Has anyone had this issue? And if so, what's the problem? There is never any grinding or signs of slipping. I have an aftermarket warranty, so if it's coved i'd like to get it fixed relatively soon.

I've done a search with no conclusive results, some say it might be a slave cyl. Anyone know what the problem is?

i think you should check your master cylinder for leaks before the slave. also bleed your clutch fluid.

I think I have a very similar problem. My clutch feels almost too hard sometimes and then randomly it will suddenly get really soft. Like the OP, it only stays soft for less than a day. When it's hard, it sometimes feels sticky and makes somewhat of a rubbery squeak. I've always assumed something needed lubed, but since everything still worked ok, I figured it must not be serious (yet).

To the OP, let me know if you find anything out.

To everyone else, keep your perverted comments to yourself. I know what you're thinking I'm talking about my clutch... I swear!

I was thinking Viagra should fix the problems.
