This weekend Keith McDonald ran his Formula SCCA (FSCCA) at the Washington DC Region's competition school. This was his first of two required schools.

His accomplishments for the weekend were:

1. Consistent improvement of laptimes throughout the weekend.
2. Being the fastest car on the track - not only in his run group but out of all of the run groups.
3. Winning the practice race (5 laps) by 27 seconds over 2nd place and lapping the last place car.
4. Running a best laptime of 1:16.4 - any of you that have been to Summit Point know how fast that is.
5. And last, but not least, having his second competition school requirement waived. This is an extremely rare situation and requires the unanimous agreement of every instructor. In short, you need to be one heck of driver to get your competition license in one school.

So, Keith has his competition license and will be out there tearing up the track next year.

Again, congratulations on a very impressive performance!!

I have a friend who had his SPEC-RX7 car in that race last year. They finished, which in and of itself is an accomplishment, and he said they drove pretty well also. Sounded like a fun but certainly challenging race.

Congratulations, Keith, for getting licensed in half the time and for turning what sounds like a reasonably competitive lap given the car you were driving. Sounds like Pete really came through for you, too. Have fun. Just sorry to hear that you'll be replacing a few body panels already after your first race.

Best,
CB
