Default cracked windshield

Well, it has been almost 4 years since I bought the car, and everyday I get to share the road with "a lot" of 18-wheelers and constructions trucks on my way to/from work. 1 of the bigger chips had formed a crack on the windshield recently, I actually saw the crack forming as I sat in the car during warm up and had the heat blowing at the cold windshield, and it is now slowly moving its way across in both directions.

Sometime I can even hear it..., not a good sound btw.

The crack is not yet deep enough to even catch the nail (inside and outside), I will be replacing it soon but was wondering... how much longer can it last? And will it shatter or break into pieces at say 80+ mph?

Not going fast these days though because of the snow tires..., just curious.

that sux about your windshield. i know what it's like to share the roads with all these construction vehicles. i see at least 2 or more dumptrucks every morning on my way in to work, and they're always spilling dirt, rocks, debris, etc. every time they go over a bump.

not sure about how long your windshield will last ... you should just get it repaired (if still repairable) or replaced ASAP!

well the winsheild has been weakend (duh), just hope you dont catch another rock @ 80mph or it might go right through it. I beleive that winshields are shatterproof to prevent the driver being sprayed wth glass (saftey issue).

Anyways get it replaced ASAP!

My windshield has had a BIG crack in it (two arms: ~three feet in one direction, ~one foot in the other) for over two years now. I keep telling myself I'll get it replaced but I've seen too many people go through three and four windshields while I've had my crack. I know as soon as I replace it I'll just catch another crack so I'm not even bothering. Getting "a" crack would piss me off way more than getting "another" crack

You can't get rid of your cracked windshield Dave - that has become a signature of your (Black) BTFU machine

I need me a windshield too, it's been thoroughly sandblasted over the years.
