Hey guys just want to know if you guys survived this morning's trecherous freezing rain.
I stayed at Jame's place last night and when I got out about 7:00 am to head home and to work, I barely made out of his residential complex.
One turn actually made my car skid crazily and couldn't stop but luckily I didn't hit anything. After that all I can think was whether I can make it back to my house in one piece and without getting into an accident.
Phew, I made it back somehow(thank you God). My car slid again once I got close to my place but again I somehow manage to park my car in one piece and head out to Dulles Airport with my girlfriend's car.
The road seemed to be like a sheet of ice especially around residential areas as well as some of the off ramps as well as less traveled road like 267 express road to Dulles airport. The road was littered with accidents, some minor and some very serious like flipped over or hanging on the guardrail.

Looking at the gloomy accidents all over the place was really scary and depressing but once I was treated with the view of the spectacular twin rainbows I was calmed somewhat and helped me get to my job safely. I just beat myself for not having my camera though, because view was unbelievably beautiful.
I hope everyone is ok and I hope no one is stupid like me to even attempt to drive S2000 in such a trecherous condition no matter how much he or she has to go someplace.

Glad to hear you survived your morning adventure in one pice Randy! Ice is very, very scary, and it doesn't matter what car you're in when you hit it. Luckily I made it from Woodbridge to Alexandria this morning with no problems.

I can't imagine a more difficult drive in freezing rain than the S2000. I drove the Civic, and even that was not easy.

Thank you everyone.

It took me just little over an hour to get to my place(McLean,VA) from James'(Gaithersburg, MD). What a scary ride that was.
Next time I will just sit tight and call sick or notify that I will be really late.

Randy, glad to hear you're okay. I just talked with Randi and she said she was worried about even *walking* to the Metro - it was dangerous even on foot. Last year I made the mistake to try and drive home (Gaithersburg) from work (15th and K St) as the snow started coming down and wound up off the road twice. Definitely not a good thing.

Take care out there!

- Chris

By the time I had to go to work, the worst was over. Left my house at 9:45. I did have a problem going up the hill leaving my neighborhood,. well, not really going up the hill, but more like coming down the other side, sideways. Guess I really need new tires. Hope everyone else had a safe time getting to work!

I avoided the mess altogether. I am just getting in to work

My poor wife though, she had already left to drop of our son at pre school before either one of us knew it was icy out there. She called shortly afterwards all panicked, she was facing the opposite direction and almost hit a parked truck.

They came back after only a couple of miles of driving. Miguel loved it since he gets to play at home today.

I said, "Honey, if you would only come with me to Summit Point and get on the skid pad, this would have been a breeze". She actually thought about it for a moment, then came to her senses and said she will listen to the radio next time.

I tried to wait it out. I was watching TV until the weather map showed a clear shot to work. It was sunny when I left home, (gorgeous rainbow to the west) but it started raining half way to work. I made it into a parking space ok. Trying to stand in the parking lot was another issue all together. It was covered in wet looking black ice. An ambulance showed up just as I got into the building. One of my colleagues slipped down some concrete steps. He had just had a back operation, so the ambulance had to carry him off on a straight board.
