Shoot.. imagine my surprise when just minding my own business I feel water on my left leg out of the blue! I have yet to find it, but I'm sure water must have gotten inside the fender well and splash guard.

that's funny i've had an occasional drip of water on me randomly when driving in the rain recently. all the windows are shut of course but i'd feel a drop on me for some reason...
also, i think OP is lucky the S2K is still driveable. i know someone who's 740iL died in middle of the road in vienna cuz she hit standing water. the sad part is, it was her husband's car and she had to call him to figure out where the emergency blinkers are

Monday morning I had to pull out my AEM CAI and put the stock air box back in (the CAI intake is about 6" off the road just asking to be submerged).

Between the location of the stock intake (above the grill opening, sealed under the hood and on top of the radiator) and all the interior baffles, I'm guessing that you'd have to be in 2' of water before sucking any into the engine.

I hit some deep standing water years ago in my GSR w/CAI... Definitely killed the engine, but only temporarily. I was able to pull off the road (355 just north of the beltway) and tried to start it a few times without success. I let the engine "dry out" for about 15 minutes ...

Amazingly it started right back up and I never had a problem with it... Though I was much more careful about avoiding water after that

Lucky man! I got the CAI from a guy in newport news. The constant flooding there was too much of a threat.

Good thought, but did you consider that it could be from the AC compressor?

I had the same problem in my 87 Accord... Whenever I made a sharp left, I used to get REALLY COLD water on my legs. Turned out the drain line for the compressor drip tray was clogged.

No I peed on myself.

jk.

I haven't even checked anything yet. I'll let you know what I find. Preliminary checks have shown that the electrical wires underneath are still dry, so I'm assuming that it's coming from the fender/splash shield side. We'll see.
