Default Dealer Abuse.

Ok I went to have a simple oil change done today on the S.

I pull up around 4:15, Service closes @ 5. I walk in and ask if they can do a change, I have about 40 miles till it is due and was in the area. They said sure, I signed the paperwork etc, and went across the street to grab a bite to eat, about 50 feet from the dealer (2 lane street).

Just as I sit down I see the car pull around front. Top down, and A kid about 18/19 driving it, He hauls ass around the front of the dealer I see him cut the corner and Almost take out a parked car.

He pulled infront of the service bay and I see him do a Half ass attempt at a clutch drop and come into the service center. Im VERY pissed at this point. I just said to myself that I would have a word with the service manager when I get back and get it taken care of.

About 15 Minutes later the car reappears, this time A different kid driving it, I see him kick it out sideways pulling out of the service station. I see the front end tourqe up and he flys down to the end of the lot and parks it (slamming on the brakes). At this point I have had enough, I get out of my seat not thinking to pay my bill and run out of the resturant, I run across the street right as he is getting out of the car. I demand the keys immediately..... This is how it went down.

Me: "Hey, Keys, Now."
Kid: "what, why?"
Me: "It's my car, I just saw what you did"
Kid: "What???"
Me: "Hauling ass around the front of the dealership, Tachin it out, Kicking the rear end out, spinning wheels, and btw, who said you can put the top down, it is 40 degrees out?"
Kid: "Well im sorry"
Me: "What is your name, and your managers"

At this point he kind of hesitates, then says "Dan" and says that his manager is not there. I walk inside with him, get his managers card, and his name. I walk away saying "I'll be in touch with the manager and you"

I could tell this kid was scared shitless, He was pale white in the face, his eyes were all big and whatnot.

Anywho I will be in touch on monday when the service center reopens.

I get home and check the paperwork and the car over. The people who serviced it did the worst job ever. They spilled oil all over the valve cover and half the engine bay, the cap was not even screwed on right, and to top it off the paperwork said they would top off the antifreeze, washer fluid and check the master cylinder for fluid level. The washer fluid was bone dry, the caps for the antifreeze and brakes appeared not even to be touched. I was furious at this point.

My plan for monday is to go back down, Have a kind word with the manager and ask that all the services be done over again, including the oil change, while I watch the entire procedure. Also make sure both of those kids no longer have jobs there.

I will not name the dealer till after monday incase anything changes.

What would you have done? What do you think I should do?

I think you're doing the right thing. Sorry to hear about it, but keep us informed as to how it all pans out Monday.

Good luck.

unfortunately this happens all the time at a lot of dealerships...i have several friends who used to work at several different ones of various makes and they all say this is fairly common. it's especially bad when moving cars between dealerships or to and from extra lots.

if you can get them fired, maybe it will serve as a warning to others at that particular dealership. You may wish to also report the names of the kids to Honda America so they are barred from the system (hopefully)

I think you should have also gone to the sales manager too since the service manager was not there. Also, report it to Honda as well if you can and also write a letter to the owner of the dealership. Go even further and sue if you want but I would not let that go lightly. He possibly messed up ur transmission with all that. Also, tell us what dealership that is as well so we all know and i would also go to their website and email them through there too.

Thats so shitty, same thing happened to me. I was in for an oil change and i see and hear my car flying down the street. I raised hell in that dealership and after that i have had nothing even close to that happen. Plus my friend who now works there does all my work since he also owns an S2.

Very sorry to hear about your experience. I would have done the same thing in your situation. I wish you luck with this... and I hope you get some gratification with whatever they do about this.

it sucks, but id say it happens just about everywhere you leave your car. My friend works at a detailing place in VA, he said even the owner dogs cars that come in. They require the cars to stay all day or overnight and get cars like s2k's, vipers, ferrari's, etc on a daily basis.

Id do as much as you can, at minumum demand a tech (at another shop) check over your car and redo the oil change and fix whatever else.

You handled it more calmly than I would have. I would have probably been raising Cain inside the dealership demanding that I talk to someone that very instant.

I don't trust anyone anymore. Hell, my seats were stolen from my car while it was at the body shop(dealership). BTW, take pics of the slop they left on the vlave cover... enable the date stamp. Get the dry washer fluid bottle.

Hell, I went in and asked for any manager possible, GM, Service, Sales, etc, It was just so late in the day most of the people had left.

As far as picutres Im leaving the washer bottle empty, etc, the valve cover I already cleaned up, Im not letting that sit, and the cap I already fixed aswell. The kid admitted what he did so I will point him out when I go down there.

I don't trust anyone either, When i had my old car I did all of my work on it, but then again that was Mitsubishi and no one trusted them. I figured I would give A dealer another shot since this was Honda afterall, how bad could it be compared to Mitsubishi? Well for my first trip in 3 years to a dealer I think it is sad that honda is worse that mitsu. Thats pretty bad when your service department is outperformed by one of the worst car dealers in the business.

hey i wouldn't be surprised that they overfilled the oil in your engine. check the oil dipstick ASAP and make sure everything is straight.
