Default Deeeaaaaaamn!

OMG, my car just flat-out SPARKLES! After many days of dreary rain and overcast puke, my S is squeaky clean again!!!

On top of that, I received my rear pair of 245/45WR-16 Kumho ECSTA Supra 712's today from tirerack.com!!! Jim hooked me up good Placed the order with him Saturday afternoon & they arrived UPS today to my house!

Won't say it was original, but I discovered I could get both new tires in my S to transport them to Tire America tomorrow for the swap. First off, I put each tire in a separate plastic garbage bag. One tire, I placed upright in the passenger's seat and then strapped the safetly belt through the center to snug it up for the drive. Pulled the whole "jackstand tray assy" out of the trunk and laid it in the passenger's floorboard. The deep well that exists in the trunk with the jackstand tray removed was perfect for the tire to sit upright in the well. So, I get new rubber on the rears tomorrow!!! Can't wait!

The Kumho's *look* very nice. I'll be interested in how they perform. GOT to be better than the flat-out slicks that remain on my S-02s!!!

Anyway...just thought I'd post!

I'm still running the stock S-02s on the front (whatever they are [yes, I'm lame] ). Plenty of rubber still left up there as we know the S2K's are prone to be.

I grabbed a sweet burnout coming outta Firestone. We should all recognize that "brand spankin' new" tires are not exactly grippy until they are run-in, right? So give me some time funsdead to delay judgement on these tires until I've run 'em in a little. Initial lateral (quick left-right "yanks") suggests less side-wall support than the S-02s...but I'm realistic enough to know that I had S-02 that were basically bricks w/o tread just yesterday -- so there are *gonna* be drastic differences in handling. But I *promise* to keep the board updated as I learn more of the Kumho's characteristics.

becareful dave, with those 712, i almost spun out at the outerbanks run trying to go to fast around a corner. they really don't handle like s02's.

I like them for the price... hey, i am not autocrossing so i don't really have to worry too much about how it handles. as long as it can get me from one end of gaskins to another, i am happy...

Unfortunately, nothing can come close to the performance of an S-02 or an S-03 for that matter. I ma very curious to learn if the Kumhos will actually last more than 8 or 10k miles.

Just does'nt seem worth wild to have a roadster that handles like a dream and be compromised by underperforming tires. I know the S-02's are expensive and I scream every time I order a pair but it's so worth it!

Don't take this the wrong way Dave, I'm just voicing my opinion.
