It's pretty cheap. I think I'm going to do it. I agree Shenandoah might not be the best track for it. I assume it's car control for FWD and Drift for the rest of us.

I'm going to call them and find out what it entails.

Actually, it turned out that the Shenandoah is a great drifting track. Hyperfest 2006 ran Drift 101 on one of its sections (not the entire track) and those who did it had a blast and asked for another day, hence the 9/3 event. But do not listen to me since I love the Shenandoah and I think it is a great road course and drift track. I will wait until you try it and then ask you what you think of it. After drivers learn it, they love it. Bill Scott, its owner, designed it so that drivers use it to sharpens their skills instead of relying on HP. This is where a Miata can play with a Corvette.

Many drivers do not think much of drifting. I know because I was one until I tried it. Not only it is not as easy as it looks, it is soooo much fun. I am now a driftaholic.

As for tires, pick up two old tires for free from a tire shop. Unless you have 400+hp and really expensive soft rear tires, do not worry about them. So far, I did over 4 hours of sliding on free old tires I picked up from Radial Tires in Silver Spring MD. I can easily do another 6 hours.

The event will run like an autocross. One or two cars on the track. Think of it as a skidpad practice except that it is in your car and on the track instead of the Crown Vics on the doughnut. Several car club drivers who drive at Summit and Shenandoah registered because they want to practice car control knowing they are alone on the track and not while other cars at high speed are behind them.

In any case, you will have a blast but watch out because you will become another driftaholic.

See you there.

Tomorrow is the last day for the discounted fee. If you can make it, it is a lot of fun and a great practice.
