If the 6->8 is what bothered you about the AP2, a VAFC can adjust the VTEC engagement point for you.
On the 2006 Hondata Reflash, they lower VTEC to 4200 rpms. 4000 rpms of VTEC goodness, and it gains power

Once I get my EMS tuned, I'll probably ask the tuners to try lower VTEC to something around there and raise the redline to ~8500 rpms.
