EVENT : Hampton Roads Dinner
Okay, this is horse-poop!
Where the heck are the rest of the pics?!?!?!?!
Our Saturday started early with Jeff and Bobby showing up first. I was really cranky(hadn't eaten), we couldn't find everything at one Lowe's, nothing lined up easily, yadadada, etc. Dave shows up next and single-handily puts the Fredericksburg area on water restriction... his car was THAT dirty
Oh, luckily I had a sandwich after returning from 13 different Lowe's stores, because what happened next would have caused me to be more of a jerk than I felt I had already been to my guests. We shut the water off for the entire house despite Dave having a fully soaped up car.
Jeff goes out to make sure the hose is drain and lays it down. Well, Dave and Jeff discover a different way to skin the proverbial cat and so i turn the water back on. The three of us are talking in the soon-to-be finished downstairs' bathroom when Dave hears this, "Whisssssshhhhhhhh! Whissssshhhhhhhhhh!" Race to the garage to find the hose aimed directly between the to garaged cars, PrincesS and the Blue Lagoon watering down the cars, the NSX stock seats and hood, tools and miscellaneous other items.
Guess you had to be there!
Craig, Jeff, Naveed, Kevin, Tom, and Peter actually got to the house before scheduled leaving time.
Very unusual!
I still didn't have Jeff's diff fluid changed and because of Lowe's being out of stock on the items Janet and I had previously agreed upon, I really wasn't in the mood to entertain anyone. As usual, you just can't be in a bad mood when so many good people are gathered.
I came out of my funk and was ready to enjoy the rest of the evening.
We roll... on time. Rt 17 was such a welcomed change from the drudgery that is I-95. Pitstop was timed well as Kevin had a screw loose, but we already knew that!
Shortly before stopping, we encountered a brief spell of hydrogen bonding to oxygen in a 2:1 ratio. Not to worry, we were top down again(well not everyone) and needed to make a few minutes. We arrived at the restaurant shortly after 8pm.
It was nice to see a pretty decent turnout. Thanks, Chad for starting up the interest. Thanks also to the combo of Tom/Carolyn for doing whatever it was they did. The staff was prepared and fairly organized for such a group. Well done.
Met a ton of new folks- that was neat. I only wish I had had more time to talk more with everyone. I sat with Alex, Chris, and Chris. I enjoyed that, but I got to thinking maybe 3 of the 4 of us may have been made to be segregated because we did not drive S2000's there.
I then made my way to the other separatists, Matt and his wife of 6 yrs(that night in fact! Happy Anniversary!), Bear and his friend. I stood there a few minutes and used fourteen of their napkins to wipe the sweat off my brow.
Made some convo with Angelo and Carlo. Chris's(S2KinVA) gf actually exists!
Nice meeting Hebba; make sure you two stop by anytime! Tom's mom is a hoot! Then there was some guy sitting with Tom, Carolyn and Tom's mom... I think he was hitting on mom!
Saw and talked to Tony only briefly. Had but a moment with Chad(but he thanked me for the good time
).

I'm sure I may have forgotten someone. Sorry if I did; it was not intentional.
I could have stood in the parking lot for hours... telling just one story!
Anyway, when we rolled out, I received a call from Chad stating that a cop had pulled out just after us. The folks that left at that time were probably wondering WTH is he driving so slow for?
Now you know. Tony had told me to take the Victory exit for those that needed petro. Good call, Tony..... NOT! Holy poop! The place was packed- scary packed! We managed to leave with all our belongings and the cars in tact! Off to the west we rolled.
We then received a free light show. ust like any good fireworks display/program, the lights got brighter and more frequent. They kept building and building! Lastly, the final white illuminated the heavens and showed what lie just ahead... literally. D-E-L-U-G-E!!! A wall of water engulfed us. I made a beeline for the rest area that lay conveniently in front of us, even that was not soon enough.
Almost the equivalent of a snow's white-out, I had a seriously difficult time finding the pavement that led us out of the rest area.
Thumbs-ups to all in the caravan for driving sensibly.
We all made it to drier pavement eventually and safely. It got to the point that I could feel the muscles between my eyes and along the sides of my nose knotting up. Wearily, we came to my exit and waved/honked to those that had still farther to journey. Fortunately all made their ways home safely.
Jeff, Bobbie, Janet , and I talked for a bit before falling dead to the world. A memorable day indeed. It was great crossing paths again with all of you.
