Default FATT Videos

The September 12th Friday At The Track (FATT) at Summit Point Main was wet but good. I was the only S2000 running but Keith was there with the Ferrari. The pm sessions were very wet and Turn 9 was slicker than snot. We had a few incidents (most at Turn 9) with some dented sheetmetal but no one was injurred and everyone was able to drive their cars home.

Here's two youtube video segments of the 9am instructor session. It started damp and ended with steady rain but the Nitto NT01's kept their grip so I didn't have to back off too much.

Part 2 featuring a Porsche GT3, Spec RX-7, Corvette, a couple BMW ITS cars, and the Neon again and again (best video of this bunch).

Part 1 featuring a BMW 2002, M3, 323i, a few Spec Miatas, a Dodge Neon and an Integra.

Part 3 it starts to rain pretty good--in the wet with two BMWs, an STi, an Integra, and the Neon again.

Nice video, and great driving. Car looks pretty solid, any special preps before the run?

I will be doing my first track ever next month and I was wondering if you can throw some bones at me about alignment, break pads, etc, for the track.

Thanks man.

Awesome videos!

How was the repaving? Is the track "fixed"?

Turns 1, 5, and 6 were the worst and their lines were repaved nicely. Turns 3, 4, 7, and 9 still have a little rough patch, but no washboard. I'm pretty happy with the track right now and would call it "fixed."

Beepbeep,

For a first track day all you really need to do is flush the brake fluid (a must), check your brake pad thickness (pull a front tire--the brake pad wear line in the center of the pad should be showing), and verify you have some tire tread left. Most events have a tech sheet you should go over with too to make sure you pass tech when you get to the track.

I wouldn't recommend you change anything else until you've run a couple of events, then upgraded brake pads would be your first track mod.

Be sure and write up your experience on the forum because there's a lot of people thinking about doing their first track day and could use some reassurance. You're going to have a blast out on the track.

i was out for the morning session.... skipped the lunch one.

repaving fixed the big problem in 1 and 5/6. i guess 3, 8 and 9 were not bad enough for them to patch up, but could benefit before too much longer

Nice video Rob. I wish I had the same gears so I could learn more from them, but these do show the line you were driving really well.

Check out who's car is on display at the track photographer's photo hut! The paste up is from an event on Shenandoah this Spring.

Calvin,

There were a bunch of slow BMW race cars out there this weekend, I hope you know what you're doing
