Default first (accumulated) snow in DC today...

my street was pretty deserted but there was a quarter to a half inch of snow that hadn't been driven over, so i decided to test the stock summer tires + antilock brakes + VSA and see how the car would fare...

and the verdict....it did well! antilock brakes engaged immediately upon stepping on the brake at ~40mph, and the car kept its line and behaved very well. obviously traction going around a turn was sorta dicey, because snow had accumulated on the tires by then, but overall, it was good. had no trouble starting from a stop, as long as i was very gentle with it.

i may go this year without swapping AP1+winters on. i'm sure i'll get 'd for it, but whatever. we'll see!

Well, I get to test out my summer tires in the snow today too. Not by choice though. My winter tires should be delivered today.

Head banging was for S2000 on summer tires in the snow. Be careful because summer tires suck in freezing cold conditions. Sort of like driving home from the track in bald RA-1s in the pouring rain. Not fun!

Suby laughs at this since this is barely even a snow, just a little trickle.

yea driving on summer tires in the snow on any car is a death wish. It may have been ok this once, but I think its a really dumb idea to keep doing it. I did it once in an emergency in my old prelude and swore I would never do it again because it was one of the scariest drives on my life. At one point I eased on the brakes down a slight hill far far away from a red light and there was nothing I could to do stop myself from sliding all the way down the hill slightly sideways and though the red light. Thank god nobody was coming in the other direction.

WRX FTW

i would say switch em if you have them , get them if you don't

i lost control and totaled my 1st s2k with s02's in winter of 2003-4 on streets with no snow, only an itty-bitty teeeny-weeny patch of ice.

new s2k has blizzaks for winter season, been on for a couple weeks now as i have been going back and forth to NYC
