Default Gas Gauge

I have an AP1 and I have gone down to one bar multiple times but I always seem to only be able to put in a little over 10 gallons. Which means there is like 2.something gallons left? Are they just leaving us tons of extra gas in the car because we are stupid Americans and they are afraid we will run out of gas?

What is the most you've ever put in your tank? Mine is 11.2 gallons.

My tank is like that too on my AP2* - the last 4-6 bars go so quickly yet when I fill up it seems like they were never used.

i use to have an ecplise that always had 2.5 gallons after the light when on to fill it up. i think most cars do that just as a safety because they know people are going to take it as far as they can, myself included.

Yep, fuel light=/= out of gas. Most cars keep a "reserve" when the fuel light comes on to get you to a gas station jic you were too oblivious to see the gauge.

Ive drove about 30-35 miles with no bars before. I think its just a safety net.

I put 12.3 gal once. Did about 35 miles @ 60mph on a 70mph zone with no bars. I will not do anything like that again.

My car started sputtering on my way to the gas station after driving around 25-30 miles after the bars went away IIRC I put in about 12.7 gallons

You use like 3 bars going like 10 miles.
