maybe its just the way its tuned -- I don't know.
my tuner tuned for my turbo and then had me drop the car off at his house on a cold day so he cold "cold start tune" the car.
It doesnt take that many cranks to start but it does take about 4... and i do have to prime the pump.. but i found my nitches...
i'll get in the car, put the key in and turn it to ON... at that moment i reach up and grab my seatbelt and plug it in.. the pump is primed and then i start the car... this is pretty much what i was doing with the OEM ecu in as well so i dont have much of a difference there...
nothing its gonna be perfect as the OEM ecu.. and the closest thing you can get is probably the Hondata.
The aem is used mostly for racing applications... your gonna experience these things..
although i'm not sure about your gas mileage because even with me turbo...i'm getting around 250 *city driving* and up to around 300 with alot of highway..
I have no doubt this new aem is gonna be ALOT better...and i wouldnt mind upgrading to it, but if i move on from aem 1052U, its gonna be hondata..
also, i have NEVER had my car die on me... ever..
^it really is all in the tune. I've come to believe that about any car running something other than the factory ecu. I don't care what other excuses people have. So many people don't do their homework about where they take their car for a "tune" and don't end up with a car has really been fully tuned.
I have a piggyback for the supercharger. No issues getting that past emissions when I did it. I'm supercharged with CAT and 440 injectors. I'll quiz the tuner when I deliver for install.

P-Tuning tuned my car BTW -- The gains were pretty impressive, but I dunno about the startups etc ... my car has the same problems with starting regardless of whether it is warm or "cold" out. Actually, I never drive the car if the temperature is below 40 degrees out.
I agree Hondata is probably the best alternative if you want the closest to OEM experience -- but the pain in the ass part is needing to change a bunch of parts to make Hondata compatible with your car.
J/C if the Series 2 is better than the original EMS

and another one that worries not about emmissions

.
My car was Tuned by Inline Performance on an AEM 1052 (w/ Vortech S/C and RC 750cc Injectors). I've been running the AEM for 3.5 years with no problems on hot or cold days. No offense to anyone here but you may want to try a different Tuner. I also have the Modifry Temp. Fix and it works great

Im hearing good and slightly less than good things with the aem ems...
That would definately be awesome if aem had some how fixed those small issues

Hondata is where i wanna be... but your right.. to swap over all that stuff, i just really dont wanna spend that money ONLY because i just hit 100k..
i figured i enjoy what i have now, and when the motor starts to go, i'll just do a complete rebuild with lower compression pistons, stock HG, and while doing the install...just replace the components needed for hondata... and since i would have to retune anyways.. it would just be on the hondata

but i have another 3 years to worry about that hahaha
