Default Getting clutch replaced

I know there have been 3-4 other people looking for a shop in Northern VA to replace their clutch and/or flywheel. Well I finally found a shop I'm going to trust to install my Hardtopguy.com (friggin rocks) clutch kit.

AAL-MATIC
Route 29
Fairfax VA 22030

Quote: $580 (approx 7 hrs)
Shop has been around for: 30 years
Gaurantee their work: I think they said 1 yr
Hrs of operation: Mon-Fri 7:30-4:30 and something else on Sat

I'll let you know how it goes. Also...if anyone has had experience with them previously...please tell me now.

Are you swapping to something different or staying stock? If you are changing what are you having put in? If it's done soon let me know how it goes/feels/drives.

I've had every clutch set up combination for an s2000 possible thats mild.

I've had the complete OEM set up too soft

I've had the hardtopguy kit...

Kind of sucks felt better but the pressure plate is too strong for an OEM disc

Now im going with an ACT stage 2 ill tell you how that feels

Be sure they dont strip your bolts and have they done a clutch on an s2k yet? The firewall sits very close to the top bell housing bolts.

Hm thats weird...everyone else has all very good things to say about the kit. I'm running it with a stock s2000 though so it really doesnt have to handle much power. Reason number one for swapping the clutch is because I have the dreaded clutch rattle and I can't wait to get rid of that noise. Stock didnt sound strong enough for even a little abuse so I wanted one up from stock if that makes sense. They said they have done the s2000 clutch before, but I didnt ask how many times. I'm assuming they will be able to get it. They have a lot of cars in and around the shop so they stay busy.

Well its better then stock. I am not knocking it but the after market pressure plate puts alot of pressure on the oem disc.

Evolution Autosport does clutch installs at around the same price IIRC. I know they've done a good amount of s2k clutches. Call them and ask.

Yeah go to a place thats done S2k. My friends shop at obsession just did mines and it wasnt an easy task. I gave him the Honda Manual to do it. I sent it to him as a ginue pig so he could do clutches on other s2k. He did it well and im happy.

I just got my hard top guy clutch kit installed last week at evolution. They also put on my SC about a month ago. I drove down from baltimore to have them do the work because I heard good things about them.

Talk about a HUGE difference. The shop was great and their service was amazing. They stuck to the quote and finished on time. It'll take some getting used to, but this kit from hardtopguy.com is exactly what I wanted....a little extra clamping and better feel without any rough engaging. The horrible disc noise is 100% gone and it makes me even happier to get that out of the way. I was expecting a big difference in throttle response, but the tach looks like it goes up and down at the same rate as before. I guess it's a small enough difference that a real race car driver would feel, but not me. Anyways....GREAT shop and GREAT parts.
