Go cart racing
Are you kidding? IT IS FUN. Believe it or not, from the time my youngest was 8 yrs old she raced those things like crazy -- learning to drive a car was easy for her because of those carts -- I LOVE THEM. Wish we had one here (or maybe its good we don't because I'd be too much). Just hop in, full throttle and go go go go as fast as you can.
Thanks Andrew! I was hoping it was something I could do with my 12 year old son, but they require a valid driver's license
Since this is a weekend for the two of us to hang out, I can't take the idea any further this time.

hey guys,
I live not more then 6 minutes from Allsport. When I was with the Audi club I used to go there all the time. I actually have a gift certificate for track time sitting on my desk as I type this:-)
The owners are Canadian and own a bunch of these trakcs in Montreal and other parts of Canada. They are big race fans and serious about Karting.
This is not a normal 'beach side' go-kart either. They are pretty serious machines and will give you a total workout. You will be given a drviging suit, gloves, helmet and balakava to wear.
They do group events and if we bring like 8-10 people we can host our own mini-gp, basically test/practice laps, qualifying and then a race with a F1 style start.
If people are interested I would be more then happy to organize the details and try to get an S2000 group outting hosted there.
let me know.

Count me in! I have raced at in-door tracks in Germany, Belgium and Poland , as well as the Andretti Speed Lab north of Atlanta, and figured that it was just a matter of time (and money) before one showed up in No VA. I agree that someone should take the lead on organizing a group function to allow us to take advantage of the group rates.
The most serious racers where in Belgium, just down the road from Spa. We went back there at night and as the children started to leave around 8 PM we noticed guys with their own helmets and driving gloves showing up. As we waited for our race, which was scheduled for 10:15 guys started showing up with duffle bags containing (helmets, shoes, gloves and suits). By the time we left the real serious guys where showing up with all of the above as well as their custom fit driving shells (seats).
