Default handling this winter

Can anyone tell me what to expect from my 2001 H2k this winter? I just obtained it in August and wonder how it will handle on ice, snow and excess rain. It's my only car. Thanks

ima garage mine, it is very poor in ice, or snow, if i were you, i would buy me a beater for the season, any FWD, or AWD, you could go blizzak tires, will help, but have to be EXTREMELY cautious, and the s2000 is totally exposed from the underneath, i have my own garage, all the best

This car isn't the easiest to handle in ideal conditions. In rain or snow it can get away from you quickly. I bought rain/light snow tires for the back and found them to be a good compromise for bad weather. But you still need to be very careful. I drove mine last Christmas Day when we had a bit of snow and ice on the road - I will think twice before I do it again. Good luck!

Get dedicated snow tires on all 4 corners and go out and learn the nuances of driving the S2000 in snow/ice conditions. Then have a BLAST! Go to this thread see what fun we have every winter:

ps. I don't know how often during each winter you get actual snow/ice on the roads you drive. If it is only a few days, just park the car and take the bus. Snow tires aren't really worth it for just a few days.

It really doesn't take snow or ice either. There have been quite a number of wrecks & spinouts reported when it's wet and below 40 degrees. It's possible to drive, but you should be extremely cautious. The stock tires - S02's - seem to perform very poorly in wet & cold conditions once about half the tread life of the tire is gone.

If you have stock tires(S-02's), they can actually "freeze." I saw a post or advertisement to that fact. I can attest to this after doing 1 720 degree spin, 2 360's, and 1 180 on the way home from VA Beach last February after a small gathering of owners. Even at 15-20 mph, the rear can step out.

Almanacs and forecasters are predicting more of the same from last year. Hard to believe after the first two days of this November!

Oh yeah, a work colleague spun his 180 degrees after about 1/10" of snow. Three weeks later he spun out again and wrecked it on a cold, wet bridge.

Yeah, the Bridgestone pamphlet actually says below 45 degrees or something close to that the tires will basically SUCK. But they're lots of fun in low-speed U-turn situations
