Dont' know about the Straight vs Contoured, I don't think I got an option but I do recommend the sliding tether.
i ordered the Hybrid-Pro Rage and will be shipped tomorrow.

the Straight /Contoured is only for the R3 which reference the spinal column. the Hyprid-Pro does not come down that far so that option is not available.

I ended up going with the new black Defnder for a few reasons:

It addressed the issues I had with the old version (the pads rubbed my ears when taking it off and on).

No available SFI test data on the Hybrid Pro Rage. (not yet anyway, it should be coming soon)

According to Safedrives as of last week, the Hybrid Pro Rage was not yet SFI certified. I don't think this will be an issue, but I wanted the sticker on mine.

While I really like the R3 and Hybrid Rage, the tethers interfered with my shoulder belts. I think the higher positioning of the rear tethers on the Defnder will address that issue. I think my harness bar needs to be lowered as well.

The lower straps straps on the Safety solutions devices can be a bit of a pain esp. when you are connecting to your 6 pt harness.

My loose plan is to move toward being an instructor, in which case I will probably go with the R3 Rage. I think the Defnder is a better design, but doesnt work with a 3pt seat belt.

it's a close call between the DefNder and the Hybrid-Pro for me, but i ended up with the Hybrid-Pro.

i agree with you that the DefNder probably provide better protection when used with a harness but the Hybrid-Pro is better with 3-point belts. also, the DefNder is $150 cheaper.

the Hybrid-Pro does not have SFI sticker yet but they said they will send me the sticker in June when testing is done. testing was delayed.

are you using the harness bar on the HardDog roll bar? i think the location of that bar is less than optimal. i think i have a solution to mount the harness to the rear chassis brace that holds the stock seat belt.

Yes. The bar is way too high, in order to clear the center console. I plan to have the removable bar cut off and a solid bar welded in a few inches lower. I will probably have to cut up the secret compartment, to fit it in.

Good luck with the Hybrid, hope it works out well for you. Its a cool design.
