Default Hard Top In

Finally got the HT that I put a downpayment on 1 year ago during the special deal. I was going to just write off my $100 deposit as a loss but due to their monthly follow up calls I finally gave in, paid off the balance and took the chance.

In an administrative point of view, I'm glad I did because after meeting the owner or the female boss of the company this morning, I'm under the impression that she is very rigid. I could be liable for showing intent to buy and not completing the transaction.

I fully explained to the Customer Service Representative what my intention was before heading out their headquarters. That is to install the HT myself in their work area because that is most practical and the best way to pick it up and I can test fit it at the same time. If there will be a problem with it then I can address it there with them. I was told that yes, the plan is good and that I can install it in their shop area. I brought with me my tools needed for the install.

Excited I arrived, and met with the CSR finally talking face to face. All is well until I met the female boss and I ralized that she is not in the same music with her employee. At first she thought I needed her installer to install the HT for me so she said I have to come back when he is free. I said no I will be installing it myself and that I only needed a small space of their shop to pre install the gaskets and the brackets. That's when she said, due to liability reasons, she can not allow any customer to be inside their shop. I understand the concept so I beg for her understanding because it's cold out there in the parking lot at 9:00 O'clock in the morning.

Needless to say, I freeze my butt off the whole morning assembling and installing the HT in the parking lot. At least, she allowed me to read the instructions inside their office. Lesson learned, never go so cheap when it comes to S2000 parts.

Here are some pics of it, at least now it's in good hands but the body shop told me that they will need several weeks to smooth it out and make it look good for the S2000. And it will cost me almost the same price as I paid for it.

Notice the gap in the driver side.

This chipped may have happened while I was working with in it in the parking lot.

Update pics in few weeks.

Mmmda... I hope you got it for cheap Ron.
Nonetheless, I'll look great once out of the body shop, I'm sure!

Ron, where did you get it? Best of luck man. If there is anything that I have learned in the past month, it is that body shops can do some awesome work.

Bright side: you have a long cold winter until the next track day.

glad thing I bailed on the chaser HT idea since you're gonna have to double your money just to get it up to spec

Hope it all works out for you though! And ends up being cheaper than you think!
