Help for first-timer changing brake pads & fluid
Some of you may recall that I am taking a performance driving course at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course at the end of September. I've ordered front and back #3 brake pads from Rick's and expect to receive them in the next week or two. I also have purchased some higher temperature brake fluid. I'd like to learn how to change the pads and brake fluid but I don't really know where to start. I'm pretty mechanical, but I'm worried about trying this for the first time alone. After all, they are my brakes and I will need them to stop me from high speed! I'm not sure I can trust myself THAT much! Would any of you local much more experienced folks be kind enough to assist me in doing this? Thanks in advance.

We had a "brake pad and bleeding" teaching meet at my home last year. Gregg did a great job teaching us knewbies. I am pretty good at changing the pads now.
I can help with the change of brake pads. But for the full fluid change, I have not done that. I imagine you just bleed the thing until the new liquid comes through.

Well it appears Sept 14 will be another brake pad changing session at my home. marclw will have his track pads and we will change them.
If you are interested in coming along to watch, PM me for directions.
mstw: As for Summit Point, I would love to go on the 20th, but I do not think I can get off work then. I am thinking the Seat Time on the 27th will be my next time out.

RestonS: I'd love to come, but I'm out of town this weekend. Sure you don't want to wait until the following weekend, say, on Saturday, 21 September? :-) Seriously, thanks for the offer. I'm sorry I'll miss learning something.
