As I posted in the Rain thread, there is some concern that Isabel will pick up some strength again when it hits the warm waters of the Gulf Stream. Projected storm surge of 20 ft up the Bay to the tidal Potomac, which ends right here in DC. Rainfall of 8-10 inches on top of a really wet spring/summer. Flooding is a major concern. I'm in a high-rise condo with my baby parked underneath in the garage, so am not too worried for myself, assuming we don't blow away. More worried about my elderly parents and their house. I can see for miles into the distance across DC and MD, so will have a spectacular view of this event...if it doesn't scare the you-know-what out of me!!

Do you have access to an indoor hotel garage? That might be the answer. They may be willing to allow you to park there overnight. Or perhaps office buildings with garages. Worth a try...

I guess I could park it at Springfield Mall...though I'd be trusting the aggressive 15-year-olds who love to 'hang out' there...

I thought about that, too, but iffy for the reason you stated. If you can't think of anything else, do it. Maybe just camp out in the car until it blows by - maybe 3 or 4 hours?

One of my MINI friends just parked her car at the (Norfolk or Hampton Roads?) airport in the garage for I think $7 a day. Not a bad idea!
