I need some help!
My s2k is giving me an cylinder misfire & my mechanic said I may need an new set of injectors. I need to know if anyone in the Hampton, Newport News, or Williamsburg area is willing to bring there car up to the shop in Newport News, VA so I can swap an few of their injectors to see my injectors are the problem. My mechanic says he thinks it is but instead of me paying for new injectors w/ no refund I was wondering if someone was willing to assist an fellow an fellow ski member? If you are please PM your info. It should take no longer than 30 mins & I can buy you lunch or some beer or something. The shop is located in Newport News. Thanks in advance.
Your "mechanic" doesn't sound like he is very competent, or you have doubts in his abilities. Either way, if you have a misfire in a specific cylinder & if he believes it is injector related, have him swap that injector with another cylinder. If you are getting random misfires, I would probably look elsewhere for your troubles. The odds of more than 1 injector failing at the same time is very slim. If he still believes that it is injector related, have him check the filter screens on the injectors themselves.
You didn't say if it was a specific cylinder, or a random cylinder misfire. If it is a single cylinder misfire, that's easy. Swap the coil with another cylinder, the plug with a different one & the injector with the last one, then just follow the white rabbit. Coils, plugs & valves out of adjustment would be far more likely, then all the injectors crapping out at once. If the problem remains in the original cylinder, you have a mechanical problem. Adjust the valves, if that doesn't fix it, time to tear it apart. If it isn't an easy diagnosis, have him do a compression & leakdown test before it gets too involved.
Time to shop for a new "mechanic".
Let us know what happens.

I agree with arbez. You need to take your car to a Honda technician who knows what he's doing. I'd recommend you tow your car over to Cory's shop in Hampton. He's located near Powhatan Pkwy. His screen name on here is C ory.
swap over the coil packs first, and see if the misfire moves cylinders- swap pver spark plugs and check same again-(easiest things to rule out)-
they try mentioned above the same with injectors-
if none of the above works, try a compression test. If low compression on a cylinder, a leak down test would be beneficial-then head off, and check out whats going on underneath-
(been there done it, got t-shirt).
hope this helps.

If your guy is just taking shots in the dark, that will become much more expensive than paying a qualified tech to fix it right the first time.
Good luck & keep us apprised.

Actually it was Eric that recommended Cory. I was just agreeing with him, but then he was agreeing with me, so I guess I was agreeing with myself. I'm a thousand different people every single day.
Back on track, find a real tech. Kick the hack to the curb. Too many unqualified or just dishonest people in this business. Stop supporting them, then they will go away.

Wierd I am having the same problem. GOt the code checked and the shop said misfire in cylinder 2. Changed the plugs and still throwing a code. After much reading all the stuff the guys said above is the remedy. Basically a process of elimination.
