Maybe I'm thinking too logically, but...

... if you're having to sell stuff to come up with the money for the complete respray, thereby not allowing you enough money to remedy the top, why not keep the hardtop and have only the affected areas painted? Seems like a no-brainer to me. Sure, having the entire car shot is cool(been there), but having a convertible without a top of some sort is (fill in the blank).

Sorry, but it just isn't logical to me to do that. The car needs a lot of other bodywork and paintwork other than the affected areas, and buy doing it all at the same time as the two spots that were hit, I can basically get all the work done at once for about a third of the price as coming out of pocket for the entire thing at a later date.

Hmm just curious can all this be put off until after all the cold and rainy weather that comes with this part of the year? You do still have the hard top. Just curious..

By that statement, it sounds like you purchased the vehicle in some state of "damaged." Sorry to hear.

But hey, look at it this way- one good thing came from your post. You finally posted without swearing!

Why not put in a claim through insurance for the soft top? Plus, how much did you buy the car for? With all the damage you say it has, hopefully not a lot.
