That is the only body style of Prelude I like, and honestly, I say get rid of it. Sadly, it seems as if you get as much joy out of a bone stock S2000 as you do out of a decently modded Prelude. Why not move on, and start a new project? It seems as if you've done what you wanted to with the Prelude, you've had it for 8 years, why not move up to the S now? Seems like as good of a time as ever to be honest. I know the emotional connections you can make with a car and I understand how hard it can be to get rid of something, but coming from someone who has been in the situation, and gotten rid of my "beloved" car, the attachment goes away very fast when you have another toy to start playing with. To me, half the fun of owning a car like that is buying new goodies for it and turning it into something that is truly yours. Once you proclaim a project complete, to me it loses a lot of interest.

I say sell the Prelude and start working more on the S2000. If you can manage to get rid of the 350/month that youre spending on it, then once you get back into a financially stable scenario, thats money you can put towards a lot of goodies for the S2000, which in my mind is a much nice car than a Prelude. And like I said, if you enjoy the S as much as the Prelude in a stock vs. modded situation, imagine what can happen once you start playing wih the S a bit more.

And screw selling the S and buying another one in a few months. Why put yourself into a situation where this crap may happen again? Not to mention that more money you could be putting into the S

That's a tough one, but it is in my best interest (and maybe not yours Jeff) for you to keep the S2k. You've given me a bench mark in autocrossing an S2000 and some good driving tips. Therefore, you should keep your S2000 so I can learn how to be a better driver !

On the other hand, there are many modded Hondas that are poorly thrown together projects that focus more on appearance and bling than performance. Your prelude is a definitely NOT in that group. It seems like a well thought out car that has balanced performance. It would be hard to part with; especially if you had done a lot of the work yourself.

If it helps, I will be at the NASA event this weekend, and I can bring my old partially ruined magnetic numbers that need to be replaced. They probably won't pay for an S2000 though...

The good news is that either way you will still have one awesome car in your garage. There are plently of people out there debating whether to sell their 88 Volvo 240 over their 92 Buick LeSabre.
Best of Luck,
James

thats a hard choice. Selling a stock car will get more interest than a modded one. If i had to keep one car..i would keep the one with the less miles. More reliable in the long run

Heres a pic, taken this past weekend, of the Prelude.

That's a very nice lude Jeff. I understand how hard it is to make a decision like this. I did the same thing last year, sold one of my car (mazda3, 5 speed) that I love to drive everyday jus to catch up with some financing. After one year of savings I was able to catch up and afford the S.

For me it is economically sound to sell the the car you have payment on and save the one that is paid off. Specially if it is as reliable as the one you have right now.

Or if you really want to keep the S then another option is to sell all the aftermarket goodies you have on the lude and put it back to stock. From what I read on the site if you can recover 60% of the aftermarket value it might be enough to help out a bit. But I would not just get rid of paid off car.

Good luck on your decesion Jeff .

Everybody has made some very good points and given me plenty to think about. I don't want to do anything with my current arrangement but a reorganization might be in order. I'll just have to see where things lead.

In the meantime.

I'm in late but considering that I also own both an S2000 and a 2001 Prelude at the same time...I can relate.

Personally if selling one of them means you are down to only 1 car as your daily driver and weekend toy...keep the 'lude. The S2000 is superior as a drivers car or weekend car but the prelude is a perfect daily driver that is also 85% as fun as the S2000. With an S2000 as your only car taking a road trip with "the woman" becomes a nightmare due to cramped seats and no backseat for her 3 bags.
