Default Installing New Soft Top Assembly

I have a 2000 with the original top. How much labor is saved by purchasing an AP2 top with frame vs just the cloth top? Does this eliminate the need to rivet?

Yes, if you plan on doing the install yourself i HIGHLY recommend getting the ap2 frame. Not only does this elimniate the need to rivet, it also makes the job much easier. Unforunately, I have not found a guide yet on how to remove the old frame and install the new one but form what I can tell its a fairly straightforward process.

Thanks for the reply. Are there any other parts that need to be swapped out or retrofitted with the AP2 frame (latches, motors, etc)? Has anyone actually done this and have any pointers?

I replaced my 03' top from wear holes with a brand new drop-in from an 08' being stripped down for a track car from the dealer. It was a direct drop in, took me an a buddy about 5 hours from start to finish. Biggest PITA was the rear tray area, after that it was pie.

I'm surprised it still took 5 hours. What kinds of tools did you need besides the basics?

Basic hand tools....nothing crazy....Sockets, screwdrivers, pliers, etc.....Took 5 hours from start to finish taking breaks in-between...We were in no rush. More of a learning as you go thing....

Darryl, you still have your S2000?!? To echo the above posters, it shouldn't take more than a few hours and you only need basic hand tools.
