Yup. Sometimes just called Feline HIV. It is one of the "Big Three" serious illnesses for cats. The other two are FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis) and Feline Lukemia.

I got quite the education in this stuff when I lost one of mine to FIP last February. The disease is bad enough but the vet costs to diagnose and treat them are off the charts. Having a good negative diagnosis on any of these greatly increases the adaptability of a cat. Especially to someone that already has other cats.

Good luck finding a home for Lionel, Warren.

I lost one to Feline Leukemia some years ago. She was only 3 years old. The last 6 months were the hardest.
