Default Which local shop do you go to?

I was curious how others determine where to bring their car for out of warranty service or for performance tuning. What matters most to you folks? Customer service? Reputation? Cost? Just looking for your opinions not any form of advertising.

I personally would say Customer Service and Reputation are the highest ranking factors for me. If I know the shop has done a good job in the past and is capable of doing good quality work and to top it off they offer service that makes me feel comfortable and happy at the end of the job I would definitely recommend them to others and would DEFINITELY go back.

Customer Service ranks a tad bit over the Reputation though... Anyone can make mistakes, its how you make it right that matters at that point... Feel free to hit me up if you want more detail or anything

How much more would you be willing to spend to get excellent customer service?

If a product is say $100 normally at a place with little/no customer support. Would you pay $120, $150, etc..?

For EXCELLENT customer service, I would be willing to pay between 10 - 20% extra....huh...sounds similar to tipping at a restaurant

Depends on how crucial the product is and if it required any sort of special installation/servicing. If its just a simple thing like an air filter for example, I'd pay roughly up to 50% more ($150 in this case). If it is something more important then I'm willing to pay much more to make sure that my car overall isn't at risk of going down or having some damage because of this one product... so I'd say I'm willing to pay up to double or (or more if necessary) for the product at a shop that is willing to go back after the fact and help me out if I need it.

Again what I said is a very rough estimate of what I would do. It all comes down to the specific situation and exactly needs to be done for me to decide how much more I'll pay. However, normally, if I'm dealing with a shop that I have been dealing with and I trust them, if I get a price on something from them, I rarely, if ever compare prices and usually end up going to the shop for the work. I don't like to ask prices for things just for the hell of it...
