meh... crystal city isnt the place to live, and that seems really expensive to me
1400 one bedroom plus ~200 utilities = one paycheck gone every month
are you against living with other people??? would save a ton of money
north of the pentagon > south of the pentagon

Yes, no roommates for me. Less stress the better ... only roommate I would have would be my best friend heather, but she's going to VCU for school. so that's out of the question.
I actually turned in my two weeks yesterday thursday, and I just recieved an email that my supervisor what's to see me after lunch.
you really need to avoid rosslyn, crystal city, and other yuppie plex situations.
you need to think ballston/clarendon in arlington AND you really need to think about old town/del ray in alexandria.
as a long time alexandria resident... the way to find things here is to walk/ride your bike and look for things that are cool. check out neighborhood coffee houses for postings, etc. craigslist is good too.

I've lived in and spend a good deal of time in the Rosslyn-Ballston corridor and if I could afford it again, I might move back. The place is absolutely filled with young people (20s-30s), there are tons of things to do and it's close to DC, close to Pentagon/Crystal City and there's Metro every few blocks.
Despite all this, there's still a feeling of community among longer-term residents and lots of small local businesses, coffee shops, etc. instead of just all the big national chains (tho they're there too) like you find in newer communities. I don't think I'd live farther out than Ballston, as it starts to get completely residential. Get too far East of the corridor and it gets pretty sketchy. There are some deals to be had along Lee Hwy, though it takes you out of the main strip.
Maybe check out this site (I consulted on and built it, but did not design it) for a good feeling of what the corridor is all about: www.walkarlington.com. Good luck with the search!

So, Carlo...what did your sup say?? Trying to convince you to stay?
1) Match the pay
2) Work around my school schedule
simple enough eh? the main reason for me moving up to D.C. was that they were able to work around my school schedule. If i would of stayed here, my classes would of all been after 4pm. This "work around my schedule" thing was the main one i was concerned about, it didn't matter if they couldn't match, which is understandable. It's not much though, just a $5k increase + bonus + 1 week paid for looking for residence.
I will get an answer tomorrow ... I told them I was in a hurry because class starts this upcoming monday ya know? If they do work around my scheudle, i need to sign up for classes!
