Guys, I finally have it!!! Amber and I rolled out of the dealer at 6:30 this evening. Just as with the S2000, this thing truly handles like a go-kart .

If you thought the S2000 break-in period was agonizing, try this on for size: 1200 miles under 4000 rpm. Most of the engine's power is over 4 grand............

yeah, once you break it in, you will have tons of fun. The handling on this is pretty nice. I was able to spin the wheel on the 3rd gear, so just imagine!!! It was at night and the roads were a bit dark, so I did not really push it as hard as I would have liked to. With minor mods this thing will be a beast. I still have yet to vtec my car cuz I have been so busy and not being able to drive my s2000.

peace.

I saw Mike's Mini [......that *didn't sound right! ]! Caught Mike & Amber in the showroom with it last night just prior to them taking ownership. Hehe...thought about stormin' in and telling the dealership I'd pay $25K cash to walk out with the car (just for sh!ts & grins of course!)

Stopped by his house this evening to give it a good once over. Really sweet car. If I was going to pay the cash for a Civic or a Mini...I'd take the Mini hands down. Mike took me for a drive. Ride is great. Lots of lil' nicities that make it a fun car. Its apparent (probably since he's now broken in 2 S2Ks) that Mike is antsy to move through the breakin period on his Mini.

Here's a thought: We should help Mike consider a personalized plate for his new Black on Silver Mini. 7 Characters folks...

MYTMINI (that's "Mighty Mini")
MNIPUL8 (that's Minipulate...as derived from Manipulate )
COOPER (well, that's what it is!!!)
GR8MINI

Aaaah, I'll let ya'll think up a few on your own

which mini r u comparing to the civic? I hope not the cooper "s". That is definately not in the same price range. I used to have 01 honda civic lx and I paid 13,800 when i bought it out the door. There is no mini in the price range of civic. Even the basic version with some options will be closer to 18k out the door whereas a civic ex would be like 16k. Honestly, the regular mini is not very impressive at all. But the cooper "s" is pretty sweet. To sum it up I still could not justify paying 25k for a mini, so i spend 7k more and got the s2k. In fact, I am giving my mini spot to someone tomorrow at the local dealer. So anyway, they are different cars and should not be compared. Mini is a niche car and the civic is a mass production car. Civic is pretty darn good handling car for it's segment. I used to drive that car to the ground and handling was not really all that bad. Again, i am used to driving m3s and even then I thought the civic was pretty good package. Just my 2 cents.

No problem Lil Raja... To each his own. I've had at least one Civic in my driveway every since '85 and I've loved every one of them. I've never downed Honda once in my life and I'm not today either. However, the Mini has a LOT of character going for it. Now *that* is my opinion & I know what opinions are like.

But if its acceptable, what's say I suggest you gave up a plumb spot in line??? Pound for pound, point for point, feature for feature, the Civic Hatch EX (and yes, the BASE EX still misses out on some of the features the Mini offers -- heated seats, the *world* literally at your fingertips from the front & rear of the steering wheel, on-board computer, side full-pillar protection air bags among other things) MSRP is within 2.5K of the the base Mini Cooper even with all the BMW "niche mark up" that is due it (similar to our S2K's plight).

Again, this is not meant as an *arguement in the making*. I'm personally in no position to purchase a Mini or a Civic currently. But I do find that the Mini stands up just fine and IMO for no discernable difference in price (for the features you get). All just my opinion. Thanks.

hey w1ngman, I totally agree with you that if you compared down to nitty-gritty the mini offers a lot of stuff that the civic doesn't. I think in most parts we are in an agreement. I like the mini 2. But I think everyone who looks at it compares to a civic as the first thing saying hmm. i would pick a mini over a civic. That's fine, but i think the civic is a terriific car and it delivers. I guess I am just standing up for my ex-car. The mini is a great car but if you drive both the "s" and the base - you will see that "s" is so awesome. I felt the regular cooper to be a little underpowered, Nothing that a intake and exhaust wouldn't take care of. Umm. yeah hell in the min you could get options that are not even standard on the s2k such as heated seats & fog lights. Sup with that? LOL!
W!ngman- not to argue with you, I think we are both stating our opinion and that's what makes this board great. all source of resourceful information. Thanks for your time and hope no hard feelings!
Damn, 200 more miles to go on my s2k....to break in.

No hard feelings at all! I understand and agree with your points as well. And you are absolutely correct -- this *is* a great board!
