Motor Rebuild?
Hey my 2001 motor has a loud ticking in it. I've taken it to 2 different mechanic's both said its in bottom end.One said its a spun bearing. It still runs, has power just ticking. I need to know of someone local who can take it apart and replace whats wrong with it and not cost the price of a new motor. Thanks any information is appricated.
My buddy had the same thing wrong with his motor. He has a 2001 with 48k on it and the problem ended up being a bad wrist pin. It scored his cylinder wall and the shop said the whole motor would need replaced. He has since bought an AP2 block and we plan on rebuilding the whole motor next week. The block is competely disassembled so we are going to have our hands full with it.
Due you know what the acuall problem is or did the shop just tell you that it was your bottom end? We looked around for a good used motor but the cheapest thing we could do was to buy a cheap bottom end. Because the cylinder wall was trashed we couldnt save the block without resleaving it and we picked up the AP2 block for the same price as new sleaves.
