Default my house was robbed yesterday

i just wanted to mention this so you guys are careful about your belongings. my house got robbed yesterday as well as my neighbors across the street. the cops said it has been happening a lot in this area lately and they didnt take the robbery lightly either. they were at my house a good 4 hrs taking prints/pictures and any other kind of evidence they could.

unfortunately 2 of my roommates got their laptops stolen. one of them was brand new. my $1500 Santa Cruz mountain bike was stolen as well. other than that they took some stupid little things and emptied out my coin jar that had prolly like $50 and did the same to my roommate.

overall im not too too pissed about it because it could have been worse. i called my insurance company today and found out i still have renters insurance with a $500 deductable tho. so i can atleast get most of the money back for my bike. also the fact that it wasnt my car that was stolen helps me not be so mad. 2 yrs ago i had my wheels stolen off my integra at this same house. i thought the area was pretty safe but i guess not.

so for all of you guys, especially in Arlington/Ballston, be carefull and definitely lock your stuff up because there have been a lot of break ins occurring.

if you guys could do me a favor - if you see a dark grey Santa Cruz Superlite mountain bike for sale somewhere to let me know. Thanks guys.

Kevin

That sucks man, sorry to hear it. Glad it was a burglary (with you guys not home) as opposed to a robbery (where they held you at gun/knife point and stole your stuff). I'm sure having your house broken in to definitely makes you feel uneasy though. Any idea how they gained entry into the house? Open window? Unlocked door?

Good luck getting your stuff back or at least the insurance money, and I hope the cops catch those guys!

Damn that sucks, I always worry because my roommates don't always remember to lock the door when they go places. I also feel like I live in a relatively safe neighborhood ... but you never know!

Glad that you had the renter's insurance to keep you covered though!

Kevin, sorry to hear this. This is cause for alarm for me as I live a few blocks away. What time did the burglary occur and where was the point of entry?

I thought our neighborhood was safe considering Kensington is a cut-through for traffic and cars are always on that road.
