NASA autocross in Hampton
There's a NASA autocross this weekend. I've never done an event with them, but the classing system is different, and I hear you get to do a parade lap at low speeds to learn the course first. They say you get 6 timed runs which is pretty good. There are still some spots left, and they leave 10 open for walk-ups the day of the event. I'll be there along with, and my friend with an STi will be there as well.

EDIT: Here's the link to the event. It's on Sunday August 31st.

When is this event?
Hey Jimmy Roadster, I'm Jeff, I believe we met at the last TSCC event (2004 GPW). I don't think I'm going to make it to this event but I should be at the Pungo event the following week. I've got a bunch of family stuff going on this weekend.

So skip does your car have to have certain standards to be race. If you have FI are you in a certain class.
I forget how many points the s/c would bump you up, but you'd be in Novice anyway if you haven't run much before. I'll be there, with the 3-banger this time.

Second, rev pointed out that there are two different categories to the classing: car and driver skill(at least with the Corvette Club down there). I've never autox'd with Jon Felton's group. Btw, Jon is pretty cool and enjoys the S2000 on the track. He's ridden with Cale and Calvin.Personally, I never viewed autox as a competition, although it certainly can be. I viewed it as a way to improve lower speed car control. My son will be doing them soon.
We're trying to convince my wife to use the Miata at a Mercedes event in Winchester.Go, have fun, try to improve, and don't get hung up on the results. Hell, my first autox ever was down y'alls way in February '04. It was damn windy and cuttingly cold. Still had an awesome time.
